Have you ever wanted a spiral staircase? I know a good spiral staircase makes my heart swoon! Just look at these 6 completely different designs and see how you could implement them in your home. From tight curves to sweeping steps, these stairs have it all! All of these photos were taken in the Waco, Texas area, of homes that were up for sale. First up is this beautiful, white spiral staircase located in a great-room off of the entry. They have it styled with a small round game table that is able to take advantage of the beautiful backyard views through the floor to ceiling windows. Who wouldn’t love to sit and play a game or have your morning coffee overlooking these gardens under the arches of this open spiral staircase!?! The smooth, open underside of the staircase is unique. Couple that with the fact that there are no supports, makes this not only easier to stage underneath, but classically beautiful.
Second, which is my personal favorite, is this tight, wood and wrought iron spiral staircase in this lovely dining room. There is just something about the round chandelier, table, rug and stairs all working together to make this feel balanced. The look of this space is luxury without being ostentatious. I know that I would love to have this as my dining room!
Next is the grandest of them all! This ornate sweeping spiral staircase in a grand entry welcomes and awes you! Wrapped around a grand piano and situated against windows that overlook sprawling, perfectly manicured gardens, who wouldn’t want to cascade down these every morning? (I think these stairs would make anyone overlook the bedhead.) Feel like royalty every day with spiral stairs like this!
Fourth we have our humble and very functional (as well as still very appealing) outdoor balcony spiral staircase. It has tight curves and narrow steps but it allows access straight to the backyard or pool from upstairs. Made from iron all the way through, this staircase will hold up to the elements for years to come. If you don’t have anywhere for spiral stairs in your home, this may be a good option to be able to add them somewhere.
In this great-room, we have a similar industrial looking spiral staircase that, while only metal, still elevates the style and feeling of the room. (As well as it’s guests up to the loft above.) Located in a metal barndominium, this barn is anything but drab!
Last, but not least, is this beautiful wood and wrought iron semi-spiral staircase. This is the loosest of them all, but still wraps around the seating area below and gives the walkway a completely different feel than if the stairs were straight up. I love the way the architect designed the upstairs landing to mimic the curves and complete the circle. The banister ends in another complete, eye-catching circle. It is paired with this stunning, round crystal and gold chandelier that upstages everything else in the space.
If you want to elevate the design of your space or if you have a very small footprint to work with for stairs, a spiral staircase could be right for you. Get creative with the design and complement it with other features in the room to create a balanced and attractive space. Turn your stairs from just function to design!
